Picture Books
Picture books are books where the illustrations have a significant role in telling the story. The books may or my not have words as the story is in the pictures. Traditionally, picture books are 32-page books for children between 4 years to 8 years old.
 
Literary Elements:
 
Hyperbole
A hyperbole is a boldly exaggerated statement that adds emphasis withourt being taken as being literally true.
 
Ex: " I have seen this river so wide it only had one bank."

      " I'm so hungry I could eat a whole zebra!"

Caricature
A caraciture is a literary work or cartoon that is an exaggerated and distorted depiction of a trait(s) of personality.  It may exaggerate physical features, dress, mannerisms, ideas, opinions or views.
 
 
JEOPARDY:
 
The genre of book that is formally 32 pages in length and at least 50% or more of the story is told through pictures.

Manga
 
Manga is the Japanese form of a graphic novel. It has many smaller sub genre's which are apparently very popular. The novel itself is different from American printed literature as it reads from right to left and the cover is our back.
